Hootloot has and always will take your personal privacy very seriously. This Privacy Statement describes how Hootloot, as a data controller, collects, uses and shares information associated with the operation of our website https://www.hootloot.co.uk. This Privacy Statement applies to all personal data collected by Hootloot from individuals including those in the European Union.

This Privacy Policy is effective immediately for users that sign up to Hootloot on or after 25 May 2018 and will become effective on 25 May 2018 for users that already have Hootloot accounts.


1. What information does Hootloot collect?

Information that you give us

You may give us information about you by filling in forms on Hootloot or by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. This includes information you provide when you register to use our site, subscribe to our services, participate in discussion boards or other social media functions on our site, enter a competition, promotion or survey and when you report a problem with our Web Site.

The information you give us may include:

  • Basic Details - name, username, sex.
  • Contact Details - email address, phone number.
  • Demographic information - Address, billing address, timezone.
  • Financial Information - payment account details (e.g. paypal email address and physical address), and bank transfer details.
  • List of contacts - email provider address book.
  • User Generated Content - user profile, personal descriptions, photographs.

Information that you give us about children

Although Hootloot is designed to support families with children of all ages, the administration, configuration, and management of Hootloot is intended for use by a responsible adult or carer. Hootloot does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 without parental consent and we have allowed the use an alias as an identification on Hootloot instead of a child's name.

At any time a parent or carer may terminate the access and use of Hootloot by a child.

The information about your child you can give us may include:

  • Basic Details - name, username, sex.
  • Contact Details - email address.
  • User Generated Content - user profile, personal descriptions, photographs.

  • your activity on Hootloot

2. Where is my data stored?

We are committed to protecting our user's data.

All data is stored securely in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998. Data storage is managed by third party hosting providers, whose servers are located at data centers within the European Economic Area (EEA). The server environent is highly secure, using the same protocals and encryption used to store sensitive and confidential financial information.

We are not in the practice of sending any data from our servers to third parties, and we try and avoid it whenever possible. In the event we need to, or are legally compelled to send your data, it will be encrypted during transit.

  • to any member of our group, which means any subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries;

Hootloot engages third parties to support the operation of our website and app, such as Google Analytics. These third parties may use technologies to track your online activities over time and across different websites and apps.

  • server hosting, storage, networking and related providers

  • Payment Processors and banking providers
  • Marketing and analytics providers

6. How do I access my data

You have the right to request access to the personal information Hootloot holds about you. Most of your personal information can be accessed by logging into your account. Unless an exception applies, we must allow you to see the personal information we hold about you, within a reasonable time period, and without unreasonable expense for no charge.

If you wish to access information that is not accessible through the platform, or wish to download all personal information we hold on you in a portable data format, please contact us.

You may access your Account at any time to view or amend the data. You may need to modify or update your data if your circumstances change. Additional data as to your marketing preferences may also be stored and you may change this at any time.

8. How secure is my data

Data security is of great importance to Hootloot and to protect your data we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure data collected online. All information that you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. All data is only visible via a secure, password protected administration area used only by Hootloot staff. Any account passwords are one-way encrypted so even Hootloot staff are unable to view these. Any payment transactions will be encrypted. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

means collectively the personal information, Payment Information and credentials used by Users to access Material and / or any communications System on Hootloot.

means any text, graphics, images, audio, video, software, data compilations and any other form of information capable of being stored in a computer that appears on or forms part of this Web Site.

means a small file of letters and numbers that is placed on the hard drive of your computer by Hootloot when you visit certain parts of this Web Site (if you agree).
